Stanislaus Warren, PhD., MSW
Dr. Stanislaus Warren is a Behavioral Health practitioner and lecturer with an emphasis in Mental Health and Sports. As a trained Social Worker and Medical Sociologist, he has over 25 years of experience working in Behavioral Health and Sport Medicine. After retiring from the Jamaica Mental Hospital – Bellevue Hospital, Dr. Warren worked in Track and Field with some of Jamaica major institutions track and field teams including Camperdown High, Excelsior High and the Jamaica Netball Association, among others. He also lectured at Mico University College [a tertiary institution that switched from a Teachers’ College to a multi-disciplinary institution].
His major clinical interests and responsibilities have focused on Sport Medicine and developing a comprehensive mental health framework to address and support athletes’ mental health and wellbeing. Dr. Warren have initiated and worked on mental health issues through out Jamaica and the Caribbean. He is a strong advocate for mental health help-seeking amongst athletes as well as promoting awareness of mental health stigma and the impact of poor mental health literacy.
Dr. Warren obtained his PhD in Medical Sociology from the Graduate Program, Howard University, Washington, DC, USA and Master of Social Work from Hunter College, School of Social Work, New York, USA. He completed his Bachelor’s in Mass Media at City College, New York.
